Tenemu

see Tenem

This is not a separate deity

tenem and tenemu are one name. Neither has any support in the archived sources under any generated spelling, and both arrived by the same route: an aggregate list whose only citation was a source this reference does not accept. The audit verdict is recorded once, at tenem.

What the doubling tells us

Worth keeping rather than quietly merging, because it is evidence about the census source rather than about Egypt.

The aggregate list carried the same unsupported name twice, in two transcriptions, as two entries. That is a specific and diagnosable failure — it means the list was assembled by accumulating from other lists without deduplicating, which is exactly the process that lets an error propagate and then appear to be corroborated by its own copy.

A name appearing twice in a source is normally weak evidence for it. Here it is evidence against the source. See finding C137.

Open questions

  • Check whether other contamination-audit names in data/provenance-audit.md are also doubled. If the aggregator duplicated one, it likely duplicated others, and the audit tier may be smaller than it looks.
