Serket

see Serqet

This is not a separate goddess

Serket and Serqet are the same deity, srqt, under two transliterations. The researched entry is serqet.

How the duplicate happened, and why it is recorded

This one is worth keeping visible, because it was a real failure and it was caught by a script rather than by reading.

The 497-name census carries her as Serket, in the moderate tier. She was separately written up as Serqet in an earlier batch, from Budge's spelling, and that entry wrongly declared her absent from the census and carried a census-omission chip. Because the two slugs never collided in any check, the triage pass then listed serket as an unresearched moderate stub — and it was researched into a second full entry before anyone noticed there was already one.

Roughly a batch of work went into a page that already existed.

The two have now been merged into serqet, which keeps the earlier entry's sourced etymology and gains the later entry's Apep chain, Ani teeth vignette, swallow formula and Dendera listing.

What caught it was a consonantal-skeleton sweep across all 601 slugs, added this batch after the anuket/anqet pair turned up the same way. That sweep should have existed before the census was expanded into entries. See findings C129–C131.

Open questions

  • The skeleton sweep flagged other pairs still to adjudicate: nehebkau/neheb-kau, nefertem/nefer-tem, hraf-haf/hra-f-ha-f, khemi/khemiu. Work through them before writing any further stubs.
