Septu

see Sopdu

This is not a separate god

Septu and Sopdu are the same deity — spdw — under two transliterations. Budge writes him Sept and Septu; the modern standard form is Sopdu, and the researched entry is sopdu.

The census carried both as separate rows with different descriptions — sopdu as "a god of the sky and of Egypt's eastern border regions," septu as "a bearded, plume-wearing god" — which is how one deity occupied two slots in the unresearched residue while the archive named him ninety-four times under the spelling neither row used.

Do not merge the entry back. The split is recorded here on purpose: it is a worked example of the census duplicating a god by describing him twice from two different handbooks.
