Anuket

see Anqet

This is not a separate goddess

Anuket and Anqet are the same deity under two transliterations of the same Egyptian name, ꜥnqt. The census carried both, so the corpus generated two stubs.

The researched entry is anqet, where she is written as the third member of the Triad of Elephantine with khnum and satet. "Anuket" is recorded there under Also known as, together with the Greek Anukis.

This page is kept rather than deleted so that the census roster stays complete and so that anyone arriving by the variant spelling lands somewhere truthful.

How it was caught. The triage pass listed anuket as a findable moderate stub with 2 hits under Budge's spelling Anuqet. Reading the context put her in Khnum's temple at Elephantine — which is the Triad, which was expanded as a group several batches ago. The duplicate only became visible because the context was read; the hit count alone would have produced a second, redundant entry.

  • Sweep the remaining census for other transliteration pairs of this kind. If Anuket/Anqet slipped through, others will have.
